NFL Star Honors Orlando Nightclub Shooting Victims

Green Bay Packers star wears an Orlando United shirt under his pads to honor the victims of the Pulse Nightclub shooting.

Haha Clinton-Dix (his real name) was photographed wearing an Orlando United t-shirt under his pads during Green Bay’s win over the New York Giants.

The new trend in the league is for players to exchange jerseys after the game. A popular tradition in soccer that has found it’s way to the NFL thanks to soccer fan Odell Beckham Jr.

Clinton-Dix exchanged jersey’s with Giants defensive back Landon Collins and revealed his Orlando United shirt.

From Outsports:

While he could not wear a patch or other display on his jersey (per NFL rules), he found a way to show his love nonetheless.

Clinton-Dix, 23, was born in Orlando. He played college football for Nick Saban at Alabama and was drafted in the first round by the Packers in 2014. He’s been a full-time starter for the Packers almost since getting drafted.

It’s great to see Clinton-Dix wearing the rainbow heart of Orlando United. The tragic massacre that took the lives of 49 people in the gay bar Pulse has united the City of Orlando around the LGBT community. For that to translate to outward support from an NFL star like Clinton-Dix sends a powerful message about how far our community has come in and outside the sports world.

This is not the first time Clinton-Dix has showed that he is an ally to the LGBTQ community. He posted on Instagram in June to pray for the victims of the Orlando shootings.
