The NY Giants have been aggressive in free agency. On Monday Big Blue signed one of the best cornerbacks available, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.
NFL.com has a report on why DRC chose the Giants. It’s bad news for the Jets fans because they had been talking to Cromartie as well and were ready to make him an offer but decided to sign with the Giants because of what the team had to offer in their pitch.
Rodgers-Cromartie’s signing also came at the expense of the Jets, who had courted him heavily but couldn’t close the deal after bringing the ex-Bronco in for a visit over the weekend.
Rodgers-Cromartie was considered the best cornerback still on the market in free agency and, combined with the weekend signing of former Seahawks cornerback Walter Thurmond III and ex-Chiefs safety Quintin Demps, gives the Giants the makings of a formidable secondary this season. (NY Post)
Jets fans are apparently ticked off that they lost out on this huge signing.
The Jets were pummeled with a gruesome 1-2 punch on Monday: Darrelle Revis officially was introduced as a member of the hated Patriots and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie signed with the hated Giants.
