Now, we have a punter being let go from a team because he supports equality. In this editorial on Deadspin, Kluew writes that he was told to tone down his opinions about equality, then told it was ok, then berated with homophobic taunts from a coach.
What’s funny is that the owner of the Vikings, Zygi Wilf told Kluew to keep it up:
… Zygi Wilf, came up to me, shook my hand, and told me: “Chris, I’m proud of what you’ve done. Please feel free to keep speaking out. I just came from my son’s best friend’s wedding to his partner in New York, and it was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen.”
I know for a fact that one of the most respected owners in the NFL has a gay son. I also understand that the League does not like to get involved with political issues.
It’s going to take a player coming out of the closet, without telling the NFL beforehand, to get the process going.
I love the NFL but they need to catch up with the times and support equality for all of their fans.
